Frunobulax57′s – Recovered Alcoholic

Alcoholism

Say What?

I am finding something that is a little disturbing here on the Internet. I might be wrong bur there seems to be a spawning of a new sub-breed of AA who LOVES to hear we Big Book thumpers rip apart “Meeting makers make it” and toss it into the round file – LOVES it when someone says “It’s not the meetings you make, but the steps you take.” – ADORES when we mention that there were not many meetings in the early days of AA, when the Fellowship had a seventy five percent success rate — but all other agreement ends then and there.

They are still as middle-of-the-road in other aspects of recovery as they can get.

Many of us Thumpers have discovered that for the real alkies,“Meetings, Meetings, Meetings” and “Just show up” has not been a solution to the problem. And when we do discover the real solution we tend to be vocal about it, having adopted a new way of life that is free from the fear of disapproval and dissent of others.

But now it seems there are those who ARE just about as Middle-Of-The-Road-Solutions based as it gets – on the Internet, with their AA. They don’t go to meetings, having had replaced meetings with on-line AA CHAT and don’t do squat for a Program either. They aren’t working with others, don’t get Primary Purpose and wouldn’t know how to distinguish a real alcoholic from a dead ant.

OF COURSE they will LOVE to hear us de-emphasize the meetings! And here they are, online, killing real alcoholics! DAMN! I guess there really is no winning in this deal , is there?

Peace,

Danny S
